handyman and repair work

why handymanning?

I bought a 115-year-old house in December, 2004. I spent the good part of a year upgrading, learning about, fixing, replacing, and experimenting on this building with only myself to answer to. That provided quite a fertile training ground where I could make all the mistakes necessary to become skilled. Now I have a ton of tools and I feel like I should be putting them to use. Besides, I quite enjoy the work, the problem solving aspect, and the satisfaction of improving things. It doesn't hurt that work is abundant, either.

how much

I charge $35 per hour, plus the cost of materials. Travel is included at no charge within the five boroughs of New York City. Billed in 5-minute increments.

I provide detailed reports on each project, including an estimate of how long it will take, the exact time frame I worked and what I did, and I work with you to navigate the "surprises" that pop up from time to time.

what i bring to the proverbial table

  1. Great problem solving ability
  2. Efficiency and resourcefulness
  3. Care for your surroundings
  4. A van for transportation of materials and travel
  5. Flexible scheduling
