why babysitting?
Babysitting was one of my first jobs. As far back as elementary school, I started taking on the responsibility of watching after others when I volunteered to work in the nursery during church services. In Junior High, there were a number of families that called on me to watch their youngin's when the parents went out to play. From one child to a set of twins to as many as three (including an 18-month old), I managed a variety of situations at a fairly young age. As I got older, other jobs took the place of babysitting, but I've always enjoyed spending time with children.
With the move to New York City, one of the many potential vocations I considered was that of nanny. For the time being, I decided against applying for full-time nanny positions because of the inflexibility of the schedule. Having to prioritize the position over all other endeavors with a rigid schedule would make it very difficult to attend auditions, perform, etc. But a return to babysitting! That would be feasible and flexible, and allow me to build some more experience if I ever decide to commit to a full-time nanny position in the future.
